Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Washington Redskins running back Chris Thompson has been ruled out for a Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, clearing the way for a big day from Adrian Peterson. Thompson was held out of practice this week and was officially listed as out -- along with left tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Jamison Crowder -- on Friday. He has been dealing with knee and rib injuries the last few weeks.

Williams had thumb surgery and is out indefinitely.
Peterson should see an even larger workload than he has gotten, despite racking up 50 carries in the last two games. Peterson will be an RB1 in fantasy football in a juicy matchup against the Falcons, who are allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.
Peterson went off for 149 rushing yards and two scores in Week 8 against the New York Giants. He also had 107 yards from scrimmage in Week 7 and 97 rushing yards in Week 6. I expect Peterson to again reach at least 100 rushing yards in this matchup and he has a great chance to score.
Kapri Bibbs will step into a larger third-down role in Thompson's absence, but will be third in line for carries behind Peterson and Samaje Perine.
The Redskins battle the Falcons at 1 p.m. on Sunday at FedExField in Landover, Md.
