Oct. 31 (UPI) -- DeAndre Hopkins dressed up like an Avatar character for Halloween, but it was just one of the many creative costumes sported by NFL stars.

The Houston Texans superstar posted a video of himself wearing the bright blue costume Wednesday on social media.

"Avatar my lifestyle," Hopkins wrote for the caption.

Several other Texans players participated in the spooky festivities, dressing up as Mario, the Beast and Papa Legba, among other characters.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen dressed up as an overturned bowl of spaghetti and his wife wore a spaghetti sauce costume reading "Prego," as the two are expecting a baby.

Carolina Panthers rookies also sported costumes, including Woody from Toy Story, Batman and a box of crayons as they visited a children's hospital.

The New England Patriots had a Halloween party for pediatric cancer patients on Tuesday at Gillette Stadium. Those players sported Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, the Genie, the Beast and Buzz Lightyear apparel, among others.

Cleveland Browns offensive line coach Bob Wylie's granddaughter dressed up like her grandpa for the holiday, sporting a mustache, shorts, polo shirt and Browns apparel. Browns players also visited a children's hospital.

But not all NFL players are fans of the holiday. Several Kansas City Chiefs players visited a haunted house over the weekend and quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn't have the greatest time.

"I didn't want to go to the haunted house," Mahomes told reporters Wednesday. "I got roped into it. I kinda got forced in there because they asked my girlfriend and the other girls, then I have to go. I'm definitely not for any haunted houses so I don't want to have to rank them, they are all scary to me."

But Mahomes still dressed up for the holiday, wearing a dinosaur costume and going with a Jurassic World theme with his girlfriend.

There is not an NFL game scheduled for Halloween, but the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers face off at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
