Oct. 30 (UPI) -- The Miami Dolphins have signed defensive end Ziggy Hood.

Hood's agent, Andy Ross, confirmed the signing Tuesday on Twitter. Hood, 31, had three tackles in four games this season for the Washington Redskins before being released.

The 10-year veteran was the No. 32 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Missouri. Hood played the first five seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He suited up for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014 and the Chicago Bears in 2015. Hood had 61 tackles, three passes defensed, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 27 games over the last three seasons for the Redskins.

Hood can play at both end and tackle. The Dolphins made the move after several key injuries to their defensive line, including losing William Hayes for the season due to a torn ACL. Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake, Andre Branch and Charles Harris have also missed time.

Hood has 14 career sacks.

The Dolphins host the New York Jets in an AFC East matchup at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
