The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback said Wednesday that he "absolutely" would be willing to help recruit the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player to the City of Brotherly Love. In fact, Wentz and tight end Zach Ertz attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals in a bid to get that "process" started.
"Absolutely. Absolutely," the 25-year-old Wentz said, when asked if he'd willing to lend a hand. "I hope he's coming. You know, Ertz and I were there the other night, and unfortunately he lost and everything. I didn't really care who won in that game. But just seeing him live, we decided to make it a recruiting trip."
Ertz took to Twitter to announce his intentions, writing "We're here for one reason only... #CompleteTheProcess"
Did Wentz and Ertz have an opportunity to make their pitch to the 33-year-old James?
"We did not," Wentz said. "Hopefully he knows we were there."
James is in line to become a free agent this offseason, assuming he declines his player option to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Many expect James to do precisely that after the Cavaliers were unceremoniously swept by the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
