The Dallas Cowboys agreed with All-Pro guard Zack Martin on a six-year contract extension worth $84 million, including $40 million guaranteed, according to media reports on Wednesday.

The deal, which runs through 2024, includes a $20 million signing bonus, a source told ESPN.

Martin skipped organized team activities without the security of the long-term contract, but will join his Cowboy teammates for mandatory minicamp this week.

The contract averages $14 million per year, making Martin the second-highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL behind tackle Nate Solder of the New York Giants, according to the NFL Network.

Martin become the highest-paid guard, surpassing Andrew Norwell of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who signed a five-year, $66.5 million deal with $30 million guaranteed during free agency in March.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Martin was set to enter the final year of contract (base salary of $9.3 million).

The Cowboys hoped to sign Martin to a long-term contract during training camp last year, but when a deal did not materialize, Martin put negotiations on hold during the regular season.

However, he said he wanted to spend the rest of his career in Dallas.

Contract talks were revived early in the offseason and a deal seemed to be in the works about a month ago before hitting a snag. That issue apparently was resolved in the last few days.
