Seahawks' Kam Chancellor: 'If my body says I can play, I'm playing'

Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor plans to heed the advice from doctors when deciding if he should continue his NFL playing career.

Chancellor sustained a neck injury on the final possession of a game against the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 9. The four-time Pro Bowl selection is expected to have his medical testing completed either in late June or July.

"If my body says I can play, I'm playing," Chancellor said in an interview with 13News Now in his hometown of Norfolk, Va. "If my body says don't play, I'm not playing. I'll listen. I'm a very good listener."

If he hears favorable things, Chancellor said he believes he has more to offer.

"I don't see myself as old. I feel like I'm still in my prime, so it's not an age thing at all," the 30-year-old Chancellor said. "It's just a matter of structural issues in the neck and if they change or not."

Chancellor had 49 tackles and a forced fumble in nine games last season. He has 12 career interceptions.

Bradley McDougald is projected to start alongside Earl Thomas if Chancellor is unable to return to the field.
