The New York Jets signed tight end Chris Herndon to a four-year rookie contract, the team announced Monday.

With the signing of their fourth-round pick, the Jets have five players of their six-member draft class under contract -- save for first-round quarterback Sam Darnold of USC.

Herndon, who was the 107th overall pick of last month's 2018 NFL Draft, sustained an MCL injury in his final game for Miami and is expected to be brought along slowly.

The 6-foot-4, 253-pound Herndon reeled in 40 passes for 477 yards with four touchdowns in 11 games last season. He collected 86 receptions, 1,048 yards and seven scores in 40 career contests with the Hurricanes.

Herndon joins a cluttered tight end position that also includes Jordan Leggett, Clive Walford, Eric Tomlinson and Neal Sterling.
