The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed linebacker Shaheed Salmon and wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck, the team announced Thursday.

Salmon played in 44 games at Samford, totaling 274 tackles (40 for loss), nine passes defensed, 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

The 6-foot-2, 232-pound Salmon, who participated in Tampa Bay's minicamp last weekend, was named first-team All-Southern Conference as a senior.

Sperbeck was signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent a year ago but was waived in early August. He played in 48 games at Boise State, catching 224 passes for 3,601 yards and 20 touchdowns.

In another move Thursday, Tampa Bay waived linebacker Jeff Knox.
