Wide receiver Christian Kirk was arrested in February and charged with disorderly conduct and damaging property on Feb. 3, nearly three months before the Arizona Cardinals selected him with a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Scottsdale (Ariz.) police told AZCentral.com that Kirk and some of his friends allegedly were throwing rocks at cars as they were exiting the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

"The suspects were intoxicated and leaving the WMPO. As they were walking through a parking lot, security personnel observed them throwing rocks at cars and breaking a window of at least one of them," the police told the newspaper.

The Cardinals said in a statement that they were aware of the incident before selecting the former Texas A&M wide receiver and Scottsdale native with the 47th overall pick of the draft.

"We were aware of this incident prior to the draft," the Cardinals said in a statement. "We spoke with Christian about it at length and also looked into it independently. Our understanding is that the process will be resolved in the near future but while it remains an active legal matter, we won't comment further."

Kirk's numbers dipped a bit last season because of the Aggies' uneven quarterback play, but he finished with 66 catches for 859 yards and 10 touchdowns. Kirk (5-foot-11, 220 pounds) has six career punt return touchdowns and one kick return score, which came this season against Arkansas.

Wrote NFLDraftScout.com about Kirk:

"An explosive and controlled athlete, he has a knack for creating separation before and after the catch with his outstanding start/stop quickness and quick-thinking movements.

"Although unproven as an outside receiver threat, Kirk thrives in the slot and has room to improve when he adds polish to his route-running. His mature character will be welcomed in an NFL building, carrying himself with positive energy regardless if the cameras are on him. Overall, he needs to hone his finishing skills as a receiver and return man to take his game from good to great, but all the traits are there for Kirk to be an immediate slot weapon and return man."

Kirk caught 229 passes for 2,796 yards and 26 touchdowns in three seasons.
