Jaguars' Blake Bortles foils robbery attempt at teammate's house

May 10 (UPI) -- Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles helped stop a robbery attempt recently at a Jacksonville Beach home.

Bortles' teammate Brandon Linder owns the home, where the incident took place on Wednesday night.

A Jacksonville Beach police report stated that Joseph Horton, 18, went through several vehicles at the party, including Bortles' Ford F-150, according to News4Jax. The vehicle was unlocked and had the keys inside. Surveillance footage showed Horton taking Bortles' wallet from the truck.

Jaguars offensive lineman Chris Reed told police that he was walking up Linder's driveway at about 11 p.m. when he spotted someone inside the truck, according to Jacksonville.com.

Witnesses told police that Horton tried to drive away with the truck but couldn't navigate out of the crowded area. He then went into the home, according to the report. Linder asked Horton for his name and he replied "Joe" before walking upstairs, according to Jacksonville.com. He called police after learning that none of the other guests knew who he was.

Jacksonville Beach police arrived to find Horton being held by Bortles and two friends. Horton was charged with burglary, trespassing and grand theft, according to online records.

Horton lives in a house on the same road, according to property records.
