Former Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril has taken a job with Seattle's 950 KJR-AM, but says he still hopes to continue his NFL career.

The 32-year-old Avril, who was released by the Seahawks recently because of a career-threatening neck injury, told Bob Papa and Ed McCaffrey on SiriusXM FNL Radio's The Opening Drive that he has been contacted by "a few" teams asking about his availability.

" ... For me it's all about just seeing what the doc says," Avril said. "I'm not really too concerned about where I might end up or anything like that. I actually just told everybody that I'm going to be working at a radio station, KJR 950 in Seattle. We'll see how it shakes out, though."

The Seahawks released Avril with a failed physical designation. He said he is feeling "a lot better" in his recovery, but admits being cleared by a doctor to play again might be a big hurdle.

If not, he is ready to move on with his life.
