McClain has met with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers since being released by the Washington Redskins last week.

"We're gonna look at opportunities to improve the team," Cowboys vice president of player personnel Will McClay said, via 105.3 The Fan. "He had a great run here and if he wants to come back we'll definitely look at it."

McClain recorded 61 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 30 games during his time with the Cowboys.

The 29-year-old McClain signed a four-year, $21 million deal with the Redskins but collected just 17 tackles and two sacks in 12 games last season. He missed Weeks 12-15 with a toe injury.

McClain was originally selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He also played for the New England Patriots and Houston Texans before stints with the Cowboys and Redskins.
