Bengals WR Green denies problem with Ramsey

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green downplayed the existence of any hard feelings toward Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey months after the two traded blows during a regular-season game.

The traditionally mild-mannered Green was ejected for throwing punches at Ramsey during the second quarter of a Nov. 5 game. Ramsey was also booted for instigating the fight after being told several times by officials to keep his emotions in check.

"There's no real beef," Green said Wednesday during an appearance on PFT Live. "There's no real beef off the field. There's just two competitors. Got in the heat of the moment. Stuff happens. When you're playing, it's sports man. You know, tempers go crazy sometimes, and sometimes you can't control emotions. I couldn't control mine that day.

"(I've) got to do a better job of that."

Green said that the situation should not repeat itself and the schedule makers would be inclined to agree since the Bengals and Jaguars do not play each other in the 2018 regular season.

Ramsey told reporters that he got under Green's skin by repeatedly reminding the Pro Bowl receiver of his stats during the game. Green finished with one catch for six yards.

The constant barbs resulted in fireworks, as Ramsey shoved Green to the ground after the whistle blew on a 1-yard run by Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon.

Green erupted, grabbed Ramsey by the neck from behind and slammed him to the ground. He then delivered several punches to Ramsey until a group of players jumped into the fray.

Green had no prior history of on-field incidents and never had a personal foul before that game.
