Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Donald Penn is a suspect in a domestic violence case, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Monday, according to ESPN.com.

However, Penn and his wife reportedly issued a statement that there was no physical altercation.

According to a TMZ report, Penn allegedly slapped his wife's butt, poured a drink on her head and grabbed her wrist.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a radio call Sunday evening, and when officers arrived, Penn was no longer at the scene, a LAPD public relations officer told ESPN.com.

Penn and his wife, Dominique, issued a joint statement to TMZ through their representative, Denise White, that claimed there was no physical altercation.

"There was a verbal disagreement, there was NO physical altercation," the statement said. "The two are in the middle of a divorce and it is a hard time for both parties."

The Raiders have not responded to the incident. Team owner Mark Davis has a zero-tolerance policy for domestic violence.

Penn has started 170 games in his 11-year NFL career. He started all 14 games in which he played in 2017 before suffering a Lisfranc injury to his right foot that required surgery. Penn has been named to the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons.

He signed a two-year, $21 million contract extension before the start of the 2017 season.

The Raiders drafted an offensive tackle, Kolton Miller, in the first round of the 2018 draft.
