Browns' Jackson dreams of pairing Chubb, Garrett

Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson openly shared his dream of pairing North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb with former top overall pick Myles Garrett.

The dream pair could be a nightmare for opposing teams should the Browns select Chubb with the fourth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, which will be held on April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Jackson admitted that the Browns plan to select a quarterback with the top overall pick.

As for the pairing of Chubb and Garrett, Jackson admits that it's frequently been on his mind.

"I do at nighttime when I'm by myself," Jackson said of grouping the pair, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "You kind of play that scenario game with all these different guys. I wish I could have them all. There will be good scenarios as we come down to the end here."

Chubb, who is the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and Ted Hendricks Award winner (national defensive end of the year), is ranked fifth overall by Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com in his most recent edition of The Big Board.

Rang has USC quarterback Sam Darnold as the top overall pick, followed by UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen, Penn State running back Saquon Barkley and Notre Dame offensive guard Quenton Nelson.

"Obviously, as you guys have already pegged it, we're taking a quarterback (at No. 1), and then here comes the No. 4 pick," Jackson said. "We need impact football players, period, and that's part of where we are. So here's another opportunity to put some impact players on our team that can help us get to winning as fast as we can."

Browns general manager John Dorsey sees many similarities between Chubb and Garrett.

"Very similar, (but) two different players. they play the game in different levels," Dorsey said, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Myles is such an athletic (player), to me, he's more like Julius Peppers in terms of his movement skills and his length and how he plays. Chubb plays the game a little bit differently, but he's still an unbelievable defensive prospect for this draft."

Chubb recorded career highs in tackles (72), tackles for loss (23) and sacks (10) in 2017 after posting similar numbers the previous season (56-21-10).

Garrett, who was the top overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, recorded seven sacks to go along with 31 tackles last season with the Browns.
