Bradley Sowell: Chicago Bears sign OL to two-year deal

March 12 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears have signed offensive lineman Bradley Sowell to a two-year contract.

Chicago announced the signing on Monday. The financial terms were not disclosed.

Sowell, 28, was active for 16 games last season for the Bears at left guard and right tackle. The Mississippi product began his career in 2012 with the Indianapolis Colts, after spending time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad. He played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2013 through 2015, before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2016.

The 6-foot-7, 316-pound lineman has 23 career starts, including 12 at tackle in 2013 with the Cardinals and nine at tackle in 2016 for the Seahawks.

Sowell started once at left guard and once at right tackle last season in Chicago and will likely to resume a similar role with the franchise. Bobby Massie started 15 games at right tackle last season for the Bears. Chicago declined guard Josh Sitton's $8 million team option in February.

The NFL's free agency period officially begins on Wednesday. The Bears had exclusive right to negotiate with Sowell until 11 a.m. Monday.
