Broncos to trade Talib to Rams

The Denver Broncos will trade cornerback Aqib Talib to the Los Angeles Rams for a fifth-round draft pick, the NFL network reported Thursday.

"For Talib, there were really only two places he wanted to go," Ian Rapoport said Thursday on NFL Total Access. "New England, where of course he had a lot of success with Bill Belichick and the Patriots. And then Los Angeles with the Rams, where he would get to play under Wade Phillips, his former defensive coordinator in Denver."

Talib, who made the Pro Bowl in all four seasons with Denver, leads all active cornerbacks in interceptions (34) since he entered the league in 2008. He signed a six-year, $57 million deal with the Broncos in 2014.

The trade will not become official until the NFL opens its 2018 season for business Wednesday.

Talib, 32, has been suspended by the league twice -- once for last season's altercation with Oakland's Michael Crabtree and for poking Indianapolis' Dwayne Allen in the eye in 2015. He also suffered a gunshot wound in 2016, but no charges were filed.
