Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith, suspended by the NFL since 2015, has checked into rehab after an alleged domestic violence incident, TMZ.com reported.

San Francisco police were searching for Smith after he fled the scene Saturday night.

Shawna McKnight, Smith's fiancee, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She told TMZ.com that her family brought Smith to rehab. Smith proposed to McKnight on Valentine's Day.

"I wish the best for Aldon. And I'm scared for his life with his addiction,'' Shawna McKnight told TMZ.com. "I cannot comment on the altercation, but I can tell you I love him and [am] so happy he turned to my family who considers him family, and hopefully he gets the help he truly needs."

Smith has multiple DUI arrests and a weapons charge on his record. He was also investigated for domestic violence in February 2017. Smith was suspended for one year beginning Nov. 17, 2015, but has yet to be reinstated.

Smith, 28, the seventh overall pick in the 2011 draft by San Francicso, was named first-team All-Pro in 2012. He recorded 44 sacks in 50 games with the 49ers before registering 3.5 in nine contests (seven starts) with Oakland in 2015.
