INDIANAPOLIS -- The underclassmen running backs tipped the scales at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday morning, with several notable results, starting with the top running back in the draft, Penn State's Saquon Barkley.

He did not disappoint.

Barkley measured at 6-0 and 233 pounds with 9 1/2-inch hands and 31 3/8-inch arms. Known as a warrior in the weight room, his muscles have muscles, sporting a sculpted frame in front of scouts. If he posts impressive numbers in the agility drills at 233 pounds, the buzz will only intensify.

Could Barkley be in play for the New York Giants at No. 2 overall? General manager Dave Gettleman didn't rule it out.

"The whole 'running back position is devalued' is a big myth," Gettleman said Wednesday morning at the Scouting Combine. "You take the best players when you can. If a player is worthy of a second overall pick in any draft, you take him."

Other notable running back measurements (Special thanks to Yahoo's Charles Robinson for tracking down the exact measurements):

--With his lean frame, USC's Ronald Jones will never be a 220-pound back, but coming in at 205 pounds is a good weight for him. His size and skill-set is comparable to Jamaal Charles, who was only 200 pounds at the 2008 Scouting Combine. Slightly more concerning for Jones was his smaller hands (8 3/4-inches); with only 32 career catches in his three seasons at USC, his pass-catching skills are an area he needs to develop.

--LSU's Derrius Guice was officially 5-10 1/2-inches and a stout 224 pounds, which fits his competitive, power style. At LSU, he ran with a contact-driven mentality and angry attitude and that won't change in the NFL.

--The Georgia senior running backs, Sony Michel and Nick Chubb, weren't at the Senior Bowl, so teams were eager to get updated measurements from them. Michel is 5-10 5/8-inches and 214 pounds. Chubb is 5-10 7/8-inches and 227 pounds. Both came in as expected.

--A few notable running backs who came in under 200 pounds: North Carolina State's Nyheim Hines (198), Iowa's Akrum Wadley (194) and Jacksonville State's Roc Thomas (198).

--A notable running back who came in over 200 pounds: Miami's Mark Walton (202).
