The cost for Marcus Peters is multiple draft picks.

According to a report by the NFL Network on Monday, the Los Angeles Rams will send their 2019 second-round pick and their 2018 fourth-round pick to Kansas City in exchange for the 25-year-old cornerback.

ESPN also reported the Rams will receive a sixth-round pick in this year's draft for Peters. According to Sports Illustrated, the Chiefs were seeking the third-round pick and Rams linebacker Robert Quinn was also mentioned in trade talks.

The NFL Network also said the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns also were interested in acquiring Peters.

The deal with the Rams was agreed to on Friday but cannot be made official until March 14 when the league year begins.

Peters was the 18th overall pick in 2015 but experienced a tumultuous tenure with the Chiefs despite making two Pro Bowl appearances.

He found himself in hot water in September when he cursed at a fan after giving up a touchdown during a win over Washington at Arrowhead Stadium.

Peters was suspended by the Chiefs for one game in December for his actions during a loss to the New York Jets on Dec. 3.

Peters received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty following a defensive holding call against fellow cornerback Steven Nelson during an unsuccessful two-point conversion try by the Jets. Peters picked up the official's flag and threw it into the stands, then walked off the field to the locker room without being ejected.

Peters also engaged in shouting matches with defensive coordinator Bob Sutton and other coaches.

Despite those incidents, Peters is regarded as among the league's most effective cornerbacks. He leads the league with 19 interceptions since entering the NFL in 2015.

Last season, he recorded five interceptions to go along with 46 tackles and four forced fumbles in 14 games.

Peters is still on his rookie contract and he will cost $1.74 million toward the salary cap this season. The Rams have until May 3 to pick up his fifth-year option for 2019.
