New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson has been hospitalized with symptoms of the flu, the team announced Wednesday.

Benson, who turned 90 in July, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

"He is currently being treated for flu symptoms and is resting comfortably," the team said in a statement. "... Mrs. Benson requests and sincerely appreciates your thoughts and prayers."

Tom Benson, who is a New Orleans native, was hospitalized for precautionary reasons in October after the team reported he was feeling "a little tired and worn out" following the Saints' 20-12 victory over the Chicago Bears. He was released a few days later.

Benson has owned the Saints since 1985 and the NBA's Pelicans since 2012.
