Indianapolis Colts inducting Reggie Wayne into Ring of Honor

Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The Indianapolis Colts are inducting former wide receiver Reggie Wayne into their Ring of Honor during the 2018 season at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis announced the move Tuesday. He joins former Colts greats, including: Robert Irsay, Bill Brooks, Ted Marchibroda, Chris Hinton, Jim Harbaugh, 'Colts Nation,' Tony Dungy, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James, Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faulk, Jeff Saturday, Bill Polian and Peyton Manning.

"No one is more of a true Colt than Reggie Wayne," Colts owner & CEO Jim Irsay said in a news release from the AFC South franchise.

"He embodies everything about the Horseshoe and is much beloved by Colts fans everywhere. He is also one of the greatest players in NFL history, and chants of 'REG-GIE, REG-GIE' will forever echo through our stadium along with memories of many amazing catches and exciting plays. I could not be more proud and honored to induct Reggie Wayne into the Colts Ring of Honor."

Wayne, 39, played his entire 14-year NFL career with the Colts. The University of Miami product was the No. 30 overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. He was a 6-time Pro Bowl selection, a 2010 first-team All-Pro and won a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2007.

His 211 games played are the most in franchise history. Wayne had 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns on 1,070 career receptions. Wayne played in 189 consecutive games from 2001 to 2013, the third-longest streak in franchise history. He led the Colts in receiving yards from 2007 through 2012, the longest streak in franchise history. Wayne also had seven consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons from 2004 through 2010.

Wayne's 93 receptions in the postseason are the second-most in NFL history.
