General Manager Steve Keim was signed to a contract extension by the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced Monday.

Keim was elevated to his current role in January 2013; the extension keeps him under contract through the 2022 season.

Keim's contract was set to expire after the 2018 season as he and former coach Bruce Arians both inked four-year extensions in February 2015.

Since Keim became general manager, Arizona is 49-30-1 in the regular season, good for the seventh-best winning percentage (61.9) in the NFL. Arizona's 49 wins are the most in any five-year period in franchise history.

"Steve's performance and accomplishments as Cardinals GM speak for themselves," Arizona president Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "His role in the team's success over the last five seasons is undeniable. This new contract ensures that he will continue to shape our success going forward and we are thrilled about that."

Since Keim took over, the Cardinals posted 11 wins in 2014 to tie a franchise record. Arizona broke the franchise record the following season by winning 13 games and earning its first postseason bye while finishing with the league's top offense for the first time.

Keim will be working with his second head coach. He hired Arians on Jan. 17, 2013, and hired former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks on Jan. 22 after Arians retired following an injury-plagued 8-8 season.

Prior to becoming general manager, Keim joined the Cardinals as a college scout in 1999 and was elevated to Director of College Scouting in 2006. He was promoted to Director of Player Personnel in 2008 and Vice President, Player Personnel in May 2012.
