Rumors of internal strife have been seeping out of New England for weeks leaving a cloud hovering above the future of the team.

Some of that cloud should dissipate once the Super Bowl is over and Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft hash out any disagreements.

Brady and Belichick are expected to return for the 2018 season, but not before working out issues that have caused a rift, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday.

Among the topics of discussion with Kraft will include what to do about the presence of Brady's trainer Alex Guerrero at the Patriots' facilities, and getting over the angst involved with the midseason trade of backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to San Francisco, Rapoport reported.

Other discussions will include a potential contract extension for Brady, who has two years remaining on his existing one.

Garoppolo was thought to be the 40-year-old Brady's understudy. Trading Garoppolo to San Francisco signaled a focus on the Patriots' current plans, which reportedly has created questions about the organization's future, including the status of Kraft maintaining ownership of the team.
