Report: Hall of Famer Doleman to have brain tumor removed

Former Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Chris Doleman will undergo surgery to remove a brain tumor on Wednesday, Pro Football Talk reported.

Doleman was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012 after registering 150.5 career sacks, which was fourth most in league history when he retired.

The eight-time Pro Bowl selection started his career in 1985 with the Vikings as a linebacker after being selected with the fourth overall pick of the draft.

Doleman had a career-high 21 sacks in 1989 and was the defensive player of the year in 1992 when he had 14.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. The 56-year-old played in 232 career games over 15 seasons with the Vikings, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.
