Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Typically tight-lipped Bill Belichick needs no words to address if he regrets trading Jimmy Garoppolo.

The New England Patriots coach just stared a reporter down for a few longer-than-normal seconds Friday when he met with the media.

New England hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday in the AFC Championship at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

"Alright, we're closing in on things here," Belichick said to open up the question session. "I think the team's excited to play, ready to get going. We still have a lot more work to do here the next couple days, but by Sunday afternoon, we'll be excited and ready to go."

Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer has been leading the Patriots' first-team offense as Tom Brady deals with a hand injury.

When Belichick was asked about his status for Sunday, he said to look at the injury report.

A few questions later, Belichick was asked if he regretted the Garoppolo trade. The Patriots traded the talented backup in October to the San Francisco 49ers.

A few months later, ESPN wrote a bombshell report, saying there was tension inside the franchise between Belichick, Brady and team owner Robert Kraft. That report also cited Brady's relationship with Garoppolo and disagreement about if he should have been traded away.

The Patriots later called the report "unsubstantiated, highly exaggerated or flat out inaccurate."

On Friday, Belichick answered the Garoppolo question by saying: "We're getting ready for Jacksonville." More than 12 seconds went by without another question as Belichick stared toward the reporter without batting his eyelids.

Brady was listed as limited on the Wednesday injury report. He did not practice on Thursday. He was on the field on Friday, wearing gloves. Reporters did not see Brady throw during the session available for media viewing.
