Gavin Escobar: Cleveland Browns sign tight end

Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Browns on Monday signed tight end Gavin Escobar to the reserve/futures list.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound pass catcher was a second-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2013 NFL Draft. He joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. He failed to a register a catch this season. Escobar had his best year in 2014, catching nine passes for 105 yards and four touchdowns. He had nine grabs for 134 yards and two scores during his rookie campaign.

Escobar, 26, had four catches for 44 yards and a score this preseason.

For his career, Escobar has 30 catches for 333 yards and eight touchdowns in 64 games. He has seven career starts.

The Browns added six more players to the reserve/futures list Thursday. Those players included defensive linemen Ricky Ali'ifua and Jeremy Faulk, linebacker Max Bullough, offensive lineman Joseph Cheek, running back Kelvin Taylor and defensive back Corey White.

Running back Duke Johnson led the Browns with 693 receiving yards in 2017, beating out tight ends Seth Devalve and David Njoku. Devalve pulled in 33 catches for 395 yards and a score. Njoku -- the No. 29 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft -- had 32 grabs for 386 yards and a team-high four scores.
