Underused Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Sammy Watkins heads into the offseason as a free agent who has plenty of reasons to find a home somewhere else.

But that might not be the case for the 24-year-old Watkins, who said after the Rams' season ended Saturday with a loss to Atlanta that he would like to return to Los Angeles.

"You see this team building something, with the coaching staff and the players," Watkins told the Los Angeles Daily News. "It would be a pleasure to come back but, you know, it's a business. I'm looking forward to talking to the coach and seeing where my future is."

After being traded to the Rams from Buffalo before the season began, it seemed that Los Angeles had acquired a No. 1 receiver.

But in Saturday's loss, Watkins recorded just one reception after being targeted only four times. In 12 of 15 games, the former Clemson standout had three or fewer receptions in 12 of 15 games. He compiled 39 receptions for 593 yards and eight touchdowns.

Wide receivers Robert Woods and rookie Cooper Kupp as well as running back Todd Gurley emerged as quarterback Jared Goff's favorite targets.

The Rams also have seven other free-agent contracts that need to be addressed, starting with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
