Los Angeles Chargers place TE Hunter Henry on IR

Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday due to a lacerated kidney.

Henry suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of last Saturday's 30-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 23-year-old Henry caught 45 passes for 579 yards and four touchdowns this season. He has 12 touchdown receptions in 29 NFL games.

Former star Antonio Gates will again become the top tight end target for the final two games. The 37-year-old Gates has 20 receptions for 189 yards and two scores this season.
