Dec. 19 (UPI) -- The Green Bay Packers have signed quarterback Joe Callahan to the active roster.

Green Bay also placed Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve, released fullback Joe Kerridge and cut quarterback Jerod Evans from the practice squad. Packers executive vice president, general manager and director of football operations Ted Thompson announced the moves on Tuesday.

Callahan entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent signing by the Packers in 2016. The 6 foot 1, 216 pound passer was released last season and picked up by the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns. He re-signed with the Packers in December of 2016 and spent the rest of the season on the active roster. Callahan spent the first six weeks of the 2017 season with the Packers' practice squad before getting promoted to the active roster on Oct. 16. He was released on Dec. 16.

Rodgers returned to the Packers' lineup for a Week 15 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He was on injured reserve for eight weeks after breaking his collarbone. Rodgers completed 26-of-45 passes for 290 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the 31-24 setback.
