Dec. 18 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Chargers have claimed kicker Nick Rose off of waivers from the Washington Redskins.

Los Angeles also waived kicker Travis Coons and signed linebacker James Onwualu to the practice squad. The Chargers announced the moves on Monday.

Rose entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signing in 2016 by the Atlanta Falcons. He was waived on Aug. 20, 2016 before signing with the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 18. The 49ers waived Rose on Sep. 1. He signed with the Redskins on Oct. 18, before being waived on Dec. 16.

The Texas product made 27-of-38 field goal attempts and 71-of-74 extra point attempts in 51 games from 2012 to 2015.

Rose, 23, has made 10-of-11 field goals this season. He is 5-for-5 on attempts from 0 to 19 yards. He has made 3-of-4 attempts from 30 to 39 yards. He is also 2-for-2 on kicks 40 yards or longer this year. Rose has made 18-of-20 extra point attempts in eight games this season.

Washington waived Rose after they activated kicker Dustin Hopkins from injured reserve. Coons signed in November to the Chargers' practice squad. He was promoted when Nick Novak was placed on injured reserve.
