Williams, 22, signed with the Bengals this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas at San Antonio. He spent Week 1 through 13 on the Bengals' practice squad.

The 5 foot 9, 205 pound running back had 2,929 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns on 530 touches in four seasons at UTSA.

He had 211 yards from scrimmage on 48 touches this preseason for the Bengals.

Johnson is in his fourth season with the team. He was a seventh round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Williams has appeared in 45 games for the Bengals and has started four times at right guard this season. He appeared in 13 games this year before landing on IR with a pectoral injury.

The Bengals' unofficial depth chart included Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard and Brian Hill at running back before the Williams signing.

Mixon has been ruled out for Week 15 due to a concussion. Bernard was limited in practice this week due to a knee injury, but is expected to play.

The Bengals face the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
