INDIANAPOLIS -- It is a worn-out storyline for the Indianapolis Colts.

Thursday night was the ninth game in which the Colts (3-11) have had a halftime lead and they have lost seven of them.

"It's very frustrating," wide receiver T.Y. Hilton said after the Colts' 25-13 loss to Denver. "I don't have the answers. I don't know what's going on with this."

Kicker Adam Vinatieri didn't have any answers, either.

"You know, kind of same old song and dance at this point," he said. "We've squandered some leads in the second half for a bunch of games this year. And we've kind of ran out of a little juice I think toward the end of the game.

"It's frustrating. Obviously, everybody is frustrated, not from a lack of effort, it's just lack of execution and a lack of other things."

Safety Clayton Geathers said there is no excuse for the second-half failures.

"We just have to go out and try to get those wins," Geathers said of the final two games.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano said Indianapolis just didn't execute consistently.

"We came out well in the first five (minutes) at the start of the game and the first five (minutes) of the third quarter, and then we couldn't get anything going," Pagano said. "It's the No. 1 defense in the National Football League, so they obviously played their part and their role in that. We've got to play better and execute better."

--Broncos coach Vance Joseph said it was the perfect type of game for running back C.J. Anderson, who ran for a season-high 158 yards on 30 carries.

"If we're in the right kind of game and we can get him his touches, he can help us pound people," Joseph said. "It was fun to see him get going. He's a volume back. He needs multiple carries to keep going."

--Vinatieri is not a fan of Thursday night football and figures he's in the vast majority.

"I don't think there are a lot of players that like Thursday night games, Vinatieri said. "You have to go into it off of a short week, and you don't get to put your full game plan in. But at the end of the day, they had to go through it as well. You simplify your game plan and hopefully you can get as much energy and as much juice back, and you go.

"Coming off of a hard week in Buffalo, and that's just football. They had to do it as well and we just didn't execute toward the end of the game like we need to."

--Joseph didn't know the extent of starting quarterback Trevor Siemian's left should sprain and wouldn't commit to starting Brock Osweiler a week from Sunday against the Redskins.

Siemian was 5 of 9 for 67 yards and an interception. Osweiler completed 12 of 17 for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for an 18-yard TD.

"It's not up to me to decide but certainly I would love to be the starter of this football team," Osweiler said. "I take great pride in coming to work every day and trying to be a great teammate for these guys and being a Denver Bronco."
