Couple gets married at Indianapolis Colts game, officiated by mascot

By Alex Butler

Dec. 14 (UPI) -- A couple from Brazil, Ind. got married Thursday at Lucas Oil Stadium before the Indianapolis Colts played the Denver Broncos.

Jennifer Hardey and Joseph Swaim were wed while Broncos practice squad players and injured team members worked out on the opposite side of the field. The stadium was basically empty.

"It's still kind of sinking it," Swaim told the Indianapolis Star Thursday. "Standing in this stadium right now. I still can't believe it."

Swaim has had Colts season tickets for more than 12 years.

The Colts emailed season ticket holders this year, announcing that the team mascot, Blue, was recently ordained.

Blue conducted the ceremony by using cue cards, because you know, mascots can't speak. The couple left the field in a cart, reading: "Just Married."

"This has to be a first, right? A couple got married ON-FIELD ahead of #TNF by @Blue! Congrats Joe and Jennifer and enjoy that surprise honeymoon to SBLII!" the Colts tweeted.

Jennifer and Joseph were also surprised with Super Bowl LII tickets for their honeymoon.

Hope they weren't looking to a tropical getaway, as Super Bowl LII IS set for Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. The average temperature in Feb. in the city is about 21 degrees.
