Dec. 13 (UPI) -- All-Pro gunslinger Aaron Rodgers posted a photo Tuesday, announcing he has been medically cleared.

The photo featured Rodgers wearing a hairnet and a sheet, while giving the thumbs up sign from a hospital bed.

"It's been a long road from that day to this, but I'm happy to say I've been medically cleared to return," Rodgers said in the post. "Thanks for all the love, support, prayers, and well wishes over the past 8 weeks and a big thank you to Dr McKenzie and our incredible training staff. #riseagain."

Rodgers, 34, was injured during a Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He broke his collarbone after being hit by Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr.

After the game, Packers coach Mike McCarthy called the hit "totally unnecessary."

The Packers (7-6) are 3-4 in Brett Hundley's seven starts since Rodgers' departure. Green Bay won back-to-back games in Week 13 and Week 14 to push their record over .500.

Rodgers completed 66.4 percent of his throws for 1,385 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions before the injury.

The Packers' quarterback returned to practice for the Packers on Dec. 2. He can be activated from injured reserve on Friday and is eligible to play in the Packers' Week 15 contest against the Carolina Panthers.
