Washington Redskins: Su'a Cravens medically cleared to return in 2018

Washington Redskins safety Su'a Cravens has received medical clearance to resume football activities and wants to return next season, his agent said in a statement Tuesday.

Agent Fadde Mikhail said Cravens, who was suffering from post-concussion syndrome, was treated by Dr. Michael Collins at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Sport Medicine Concussion Program.

"Su'a has undergone targeted treatment and rehabilitation," Mikhail said in a statement. "He is now asymptomatic and cleared to return back to ALL THINGS FOOTBALL. Su'a is excited and looking forward to the 2018 NFL season and the many years to follow."

The Redskins had placed Cravens on the exempt/left squad list on Sept. 3 after the 22-year-old said he wanted to retire. Cravens was then placed on the reserve/left squad list 15 days later, meaning he was ineligible to return during the 2017 regular season or postseason.

Cravens recorded 34 tackles, a sack, an interception, and five passes defended in 11 games during his rookie season.

The former three-year USC standout totaled 207 tackles, 10.5 sacks, nine interceptions, 16 passes defensed and four forced fumbles in 40 career games with the Trojans.
