Hunter Sharp: New York Giants sign WR, OL Damien Mama

Dec. 12 (UPI) -- The New York Giants have signed wide receiver Hunter Sharp and offensive lineman Damien Mama.

Mama joins the Giants from the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad, while Sharp comes from the Denver Broncos' practice squad.

New York announced the transactions on Tuesday.

The Giants also signed tight end Ryan O'Malley and defensive back Tim Scott to their practice squad. Mama and Sharp are eligible to suit up for the Giants on Sunday in their NFC East clash against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 5 foot 11, 198 pound Sharp failed to log a reception in one appearance this season for the Broncos. He played in the team's Oct. 22 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Utah product entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent signing in 2016 by the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was cut by the Eagles on Aug. 24, 2016 and signed to the Broncos' practice squad on Dec. 28. Sharp was called up to the active roster on Jan. 2, before being waived on Sept 2. He signed to the Broncos' practice squad again on Sept. 3 and again to the active roster on Oct. 18. He was cut on Oct. 28 and re-signed to the practice squad on Nov. 1.

Sharp hauled in 137 catches for 1,774 yards and 16 scores in 25 games at Utah State.

Mama is listed at 6 foot 3, 342 pounds. The offensive lineman has never appeared in a regular season contest during his NFL tenure. He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent signing on May 6 by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was waived on Sept. 2 and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 3. He spent the first 14 weeks of the season with the Chiefs' practice unit.

The Giants have Sterling Shepard, Tavarres King, Roger Lewis, Kalif Raymond and Travis Rudolph is listed on their unofficial depth chart at wide receiver. New York has Ereck Flowers, John Jerry, Brett Jones, Bobby Hart and Justin Pugh listed as starters on their offensive line, with Mama currently listed as a third-string right tackle.

Pugh is dealing with an injured back.
