Dec. 9 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears have promoted practice squad defensive lineman Rashaad Coward.

Chicago also waived linebacker Jonathan Anderson. The Bears announced the roster moves on Saturday.

Coward, 23, joins the Bears' 53-man roster as Eddie Goldman deals with a hip injury. Goldman did not practice this week and is listed as doubtful for Week 14.

The Bears face the Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

Coward is listed a 6 foot 5, 320 pounds. He can play nose tackle and defensive end. The Old Dominion product signed with the Bears this offseason as an undrafted free agent. He had three tackles and a pass deflection in four preseason games for the Bears.

Chicago added Anderson to the active roster on Nov. 11. That came after they cut Anderson on Oct. 26 after trading for Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Dontrelle Inman.

The Bears have Goldman and John Jenkins listed at nose tackle on their unofficial depth chart. Chicago has Akiem Hicks, Roy Robertson-Harris and Jonathan Bullard listed at defensive end.

Chicago has had a rash of injuries on the defensive end, but Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio would not use that as an excuse when asked about the team's performance.

"A carpenter never blames his tool," Fangio told the team website. "He just finds a way to get the thing built."

The Bears rank No. 14 in yards allowed per game.
