"I have no fear at all, but I have to respect their process," Winston said on Thursday. "I'm just going to respect the process, most importantly. That's all I can do."
Winston denied the allegations after they surfaced in a BuzzFeed report. There is no police report stemming from the alleged incident, although the driver filed a complaint with her employer and Winston's Uber privileges were revoked.
The Uber driver told BuzzFeed that she picked up Winston in Scottsdale, Ariz., around 2 a.m. local time on March 13, 2016. The driver alleged Winston "behaved poorly" as soon as he got in the car, and then asked her to stop at a drive-thru restaurant during the ride.
While in line, the driver said Winston reached over and "grabbed" her crotch for three to five seconds.
"He sexually assaulted me, and I have every right to tell the damn truth about it," the woman, identified as Kate in the story, told BuzzFeed.
Winston believes that the driver was mistaken about the number of passengers in the car and where he was sitting in the vehicle, which was corroborated in a statement by former Florida State teammate Ronald Darby, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.
