Nov. 26 (UPI) -- New York Jets rookie Jamal Adams shoved Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton while he was doing his Superman celebration.

Newton's Panthers won the contest 35-27 Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Newton scored on a one-yard run with 10:07 remaining in the second quarter. He faked a handoff on the play, before scrambling to his left and outrunning Jets defenders for a one-yard touchdown. The score put the Panthers up 9-3.

After reaching pay dirt, Newton stood stoically, holding the football on his left hip. He sat the ball down and posed like a superhero. He then reached up near the No. 1 on his chest and pretended to reveal Superman's logo on his shirt.

Adams walked up to Newton and shoved him in, but Newton hit the rookie's arm away.

A referee was quick to pull Adams away from the Panthers star, before Newton's teammates joined him in celebration. Newton glared at the rookie as he was being led away. He then did his celebration another time, with a little bit of extra emphasis.
