New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski mum on celebration, talkative on biscuits

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Rob Gronkowski wanted to talk about it.

He couldn't but he wanted to.

"He, uh ... I got yelled at -- we're not allowed to talk about celebrations," the Patriots' tight end said of Brandin Cooks jumping on his back and riding him like a horse after Cooks scored the final touchdown in New England's 35-17 rout of the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

"That's what we got told but I kinda want to talk about it. But I kinda don't because I'll get in trouble. I don't know what to do, so ... it just happened on the spot. It wasn't planned. So we'll leave it there (laugh)."

Gronkowski scored two of New England's five touchdowns, his 16th game with more than one touchdown catch, a club record.

But he still hasn't had any of Tom Brady's Thanksgiving biscuits.

The quarterback came in Friday and boasted about the biscuits he made for dinner the day before.

"He was bragging about them and I told him to bring some in and he's like, 'They were so good they were all eaten,'" Gronkowski said Friday. "So I told him to make some more. I'm not lying. That's dead serious what happened.

"If he doesn't bring some in there's going to be some problems."

Sunday, the "biscuits" turned out to be touchdown catches.

"Guess those were the biscuits," Gronkowski said. "Guess he wasn't making any more so he made up for it. But I still want those biscuits."

Said Brady: "I gotta do that for him because he wants it, so ... anything he wants I usually try to get for him, so anything to keep him happy."

Gronkowski also passed Kellen Winslow for 10th place on the all-time tight-end yardage list (6,797), and the Brady-Gronkowski tandem hooked up for its 73rd and 74th touchdowns, passing Drew Brees and Marques Colston for fifth place on that list.

Coming into Sunday's game, the Dolphins were next to last in the NFL in pass defense, a minus-9 in turnover ratio, second in the league in penalties, had the second-worst red-zone defense in the league and were outscored 13.4-5.0 in first halves.

Taking them one at a time in Sunday's game:

Brady threw four touchdown passes in the New England win.

The Dolphins coughed the ball up three times, the Patriots twice.

Miami, also second in penalties last year, was guilty of six Sunday, not bad, for 52 yards. But cornerback Bobby McCain was thrown out of the game for throwing a punch.

The Patriots, who have struggled in the red zone, were 5-for-5.

New England led 21-10 at the half.

Brady is always talking about how he likes his team to "play ahead."

Well, leading 21-10 at halftime Sunday resulted in New England improving to 143-26 when leading at the break.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick didn't like being asked if he thought about taking Brady out late in the game -- after Brady had taken some shots from the Miami defense and the Gillette Stadium turf.

"You mean for the kneel-downs?" Belichick snapped.

Told the question was over the previous series, with 3:09 left in a 35-17 game, he said, "It's easy for you to sit there and say the game's out of hand. If you watch games in the National Football League, a lot can change in a hurry."
