Fantasy Football: Greg Olsen will 'ideally' play half of the snaps

Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Tight end Greg Olsen is expected to play on Sunday for the Carolina Panthers, but he might not see a full compliment of snaps.

Olsen was reinstated off of injured reserve on Nov. 24. The Pro Bowl tight end hasn't played since the Panthers' Week 2 win against the Buffalo Bills. He has three catches for 28 yards this season on six targets, but hasn't scored a touchdown.

The Panthers face the New York Jets at 1 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium. New York is tied for allowing the fourth-most touchdowns to opposing tight ends and is allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to the position.

"It's exciting," Panthers coach Ron Rivera told the team website. "He's obviously a part of what we do, and we haven't had him for a while. We just feel good about getting him back, especially going into this final stretch of the season."

"We're going to try to do it judiciously," Rivera said. "We've got to save him from himself and save him from us. You get a guy like that, you want to keep him out there as much as you can. But just knowing his conditioning and football shape isn't where it needs to be right now....You don't want to throw Greg out there and have him go 60 plays. So we really have to be smart."

Rivera also told NFL Network that "ideally," the Panthers want Olsen to be involved in "half of their offensive snaps." The Panthers coach said Olsen should start Sunday's game.

Olsen is still worth a start in your fantasy football league if you have to start a tight end. He also deserves some flex consideration. The 11-year NFL veteran had at least 100 targets in his previous five seasons entering the 2017 campaign. He also entered the year with three consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.
