Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan announced that his wife was pregnant Tuesday on Twitter.

While most of the reaction was positive and congratulatory, the Internet is still the Internet.

"Happy to announce that we're having twins!" Ryan posted as the caption for a photo on social media, including his wife Sarah Marshall.

Ryan's wife was also holding Falcons baby onesies in the photo, which has more than 40,000 interactions on Twitter.

The Ryan's were married in 2011. The twins are expected to arrive in April.

"It's been a long road, but Matt and I couldn't be happier to announce that we are expecting twins! We are anxiously awaiting their arrival in April," Sarah Ryan wrote on Instagram. "There's just something about the number 2 in our house, I guess."

The photo the couple posted included a large gold No. 2 balloon.

One Twitter user turned the balloon into a series of numbers, editing the photo to read "28-3." The reference was aimed at Ryan's Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots after the Falcons held a 28-3 advantage. Another Twitter user said she hopes Ryan's twins are born on March 28. That would make their date of birth 3/28, another reference to the devastating loss.

"Ice cubes coming soon! #MattyIce and @sryan03 are expecting twins!" The Falcons tweeted Wednesday.

"The ice cubes," Sarah Ryan tweeted in response to the Falcons. "Thanks to @Mo_12_Sanu for the nicknames and thank you to everyone for all the well wishes. Matt and I really appreciate it!"

The Falcons host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. Sunday in an NFC South clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
