C.J. Anderson: Denver Broncos RB cries after fumble

Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Running back C.J. Anderson was visibly distraught and in tears after a fumble in the Denver Broncos' loss Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Anderson was crying at his locker when discussing the game.

"I didn't make the play," Anderson said in his postgame comments. "[LB] Vontaze [Burfict] made the play and I didn't. Somebody has to win and I just wasn't the winner on that play."

"[Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy] said I've been playing my butt off all year, but that one play, I didn't lose the game," Anderson said. "I hear Mike, but I'm not feeling that. If I don't do that, then [WR] A.J. [Green] doesn't score. Who knows how the outcome turns. That's just on me. That stuff hurts. I put my heart and soul into this."

Anderson's fumble came at the 12:21 mark in the fourth quarter. He rushed up the middle for two yards before being met by Burfict. Bengals safety Shawn Williams recovered Anderson's drop. The Bengals responded with a six-play, 3:17 drive, capped off by an 18-yard touchdown pass from Andy Dalton to Green. The score put the Bengals up 20-10.

"[RB] C.J. [Anderson] is a friend of mine," Burfict told reporters after the game. "It's always a physical game when I play him because he is like a bowling ball. I have known him since college and he is a good player. I have been watching him. He is from California just like I am from California. I'm a big fan of his, but when I see him break through the hole I know I need to get ready. I saw which side he had the ball on so I just put my helmet on that side of the ball and it just popped up."

Anderson had 37 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. He also had two catches for 19 yards.

Denver lost the game 20-17 for its sixth consecutive defeat. The Broncos haven't tasted victory since Oct. 1.
