Fantasy Football: Week 11 running back rankings

Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills workhorse LeSean McCoy is my No. 1 running back for Week 11.

Pittsburgh Steelers star Le'Veon Bell, Los Angeles Chargers' Melvin Gordon, Kansas City Chiefs' Kareem Hunt and Los Angeles Rams' Todd Gurley round out my top five options at the position.

Be sure to bench your backs from the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers, as those teams have Week 11 byes.

TOP SHELF

Buffalo Bills star LeSean McCoy leads my running back rankings for Week 11, despite not scoring since Week 8. This week, the Bills battle the Los Angeles Chargers, a defense that has allowed the second-most rushing yards and seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. McCoy is due to heat up at the end of the fantasy football season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers back Doug Martin is my No. 7 option this week. The Buccaneers travel to face the Miami Dolphins, a defense allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game and tied for allowing the third-most rushing scores to opposing running backs. Martin should exploit this unit to finish the week as an RB1.

SNEAKY PLAYS

Miami Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake has had two consecutive solid games, despite his team losing. In Week 9 he had 104 yards from scrimmage on 14 touches. In Week 10 he had 92 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on nine touches. I expect Drake to hover around 12 to 15 touches this week against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers unit allowing the 10th-most fantasy points per game and tied for allowing the third-most rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs. Drake is a high-end RB2 for me in this matchup.

Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah is my No. 16 option for Week 11, putting him in RB2 consideration. Abdullah has scored touchdowns in consecutive weeks for the first time this season and has received a double-digit carry workload in every game this season, including 32 carries over the last two weeks. This week, the Lions face the Chicago Bears, a unit tied for allowing the second-most rushing scores to opposing running backs. I can see Abdullah getting in for another score in Week 11.

LONGSHOTS

Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins has cooled off a bit, but he is still worth a streaming play in Week 11 if you need RB2 or flex help. Collins' Ravens face the Green Bay Packers, a defense allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Expect this game to be low-scoring, but both teams will use heavy doses of the running game.

New England Patriots dynamo Dion Lewis went nuts in Week 10. Lewis scored with a 103-yard kick return and later added an 8-yard rushing score to finish the week with a big fantasy football return. This week the Patriots are facing an Oakland Raiders unit that ranks fifth in rushing yards allowed and is tied for fifth in fantasy points points per game surrendered to opposing running backs. Lewis is a low-end RB2 for me in this spot.
