C.J. Prosise's season is over after the Seattle Seahawks placed the running back on injured reserve Tuesday.

Prosise had been hampered by ankle injuries all season. To fill Prosise's roster spot, the Seahawks signed back Mike Davis from its practice squad.

The 23-year-old Prosise finished the season with just 23 yards on 11 carries. He missed five straight games before returning in last Thursday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, only to leave with an ankle sprain.

Seattle also officially placed cornerback Richard Sherman on injured reserve and signed cornerback Byron Maxwell.

Sherman suffered a season-ending Achilles injury Thursday against Arizona.

Maxwell was a starter on the Seahawks' Super Bowl XLIX team in 2014.
