Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Running back Brian Hill has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cincinnati announced the acquisition on Tuesday. The Bengals waived linebacker Hardy Nickerson and signed cornerback Sojourn Shelton to the practice squad in corresponding moves.

Hill was a fifth round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 NFL Draft. The University of Wyoming product made the Falcons' 53-man active roster at the beginning of the year, playing on special teams in Week 4. He was waived on Oct. 14 and signed to the team's practice squad on Oct. 17.

The 6 foot 1, 219 pound running back had 4,287 yards and 35 rushing scores in three seasons at Wyoming.

Nickerson had two special teams tackles in seven games for the Bengals. He also was on the Bengals' practice squad for Week 4 and Week 5.

Shelton signed to the Bengals' practice squad on Sept. 4 before being released on Oct. 27.

The Bengals' depth chart includes just Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard at running back. Veteran ball carrier Jeremy Hill on injured reserve and waived kicker Marshall Koehn on Nov. 11.

Cincinnati owns the worst rushing attack in the NFL. Averaging just 70.1 rushing yards per game. It doesn't get any easier for the Bengals, as they travel to Sports Authority Field at Mile High for a 4:25 p.m. matchup Sunday against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are the fifth-best defense against the run and rank No. 4 in total defense.
