The injury occurred at Texans practice. Sources first informed NFL Network of the situation. Watson will undergo an MRI to assess the extent of the damage to his knee.
Watson won the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. He received the accolade on Thursday.
The No. 12 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft completed 61.8 percent of his throws for 1,699 yards, a league-high 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Watson also led the league in touchdown percentage and yards per completion. The rookie playmaker also had 269 yards and two scores on 36 carries.

Watson was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4. He had one of his best games of the season in the Texans' 41-38 loss Sunday to the Seattle Seahawks, completing 63 percent of his throws for 402 yards, four scores and three interceptions.
The Texans have now lost superstar J.J. Watt, Whitney Mercilus and Watson for the season.
A source told ESPN that Watson went down during a drill while running a read option. Trainers removed him from the field.
He will be back better than ever 🙏🏾 #DW4— Mike Williams (@darealmike_dub) November 2, 2017
The Texans will turn to backup quarterback Tom Savage as their starting quarterback in Watson's absence. Savage completed 63 percent of his passes for 461 yards and started two games last season. He posted a 1-1 record and failed to throw a touchdown or an interception. Savage has completed 7-of-13 passes for 62 yards in two games this season.
Players around the NFL reacted to the injury with compassion, proving that Watson is a well liked and respected asset to the league.
While this is awful real-life news, it also kills many fantasy teams. Watson was having a very impressive rookie campaign and is irreplaceable in lineups. This injury dampens the fantasy football prospects for everyone on the Texans' offense.
