Former Pro Bowl receiver Derrick Mason was arrested and charged with felony aggravated domestic assault after an incident on Monday in Nashville, Tenn.
A 43-year-old woman contacted police and said she was physically assaulted, struck in the stomach and grabbed in the neck by Mason on Monday morning after informing him she wanted to end their relationship.
Detectives said they observed bruising on the woman's arm, red marks on the side of her neck and a scratch on the top of her head.
Mason, 43, left before police arrived but turned himself in Monday night upon learning there was a warrant for his arrest.
Mason caught 943 passes for 12,061 yards and 66 touchdowns during a 15-year career from 1997-2011. He topped 1,000 yards on eight occasions and had a career-best 103 receptions in 2007.
