Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Defensive end Devin Taylor is now a member of the New York Giants.
The Giants announced the signing on Tuesday. New York also placed defensive end Nordly "Cap" Capi on injured reserve and signed linebacker Trevor Bates to the practice squad. The Giants terminated the contract of wide receiver Kalif Raymond in another corresponding transaction. Raymond joined the Giants' practice unit on Oct. 11.
Taylor, 27, entered the NFL as a fourth round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 6 foot 8, 270 pound defender had 14 combined tackles, 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a pass defensed in 14 games during his rookie campaign. He appeared in 16 games in 2014 and in 15 games in 2015 for the Lions. Taylor had 28 combined tackles, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a pass defensed and a safety in 16 starts last season with Detroit. He signed with the Giants on May 25 and had five tackles, two solo tackles and an interception in four preseason games for the franchise. He was cut on Sept. 2.
Capi signed with the Giants' practice squad on Sept. 4 and was added to the active roster on Sept. 28. He had two special teams tackles and played in the Giants' first four games this season, before suffering a hamstring injury on Oct. 22 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Bates was a seventh round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played in one game last season and was released on Oct. 13. Bates was a member of the New England Patriots' practice squad last season. He was cut from the Patriots' roster on Sept. 2 and released from the practice squad three days later.
